As soon as some people hear wifi cell phones, many are already thinking about the different ways used to access the Internet. Very few understand the concept behind the name, since it involves the word wifi. It helps to understand the kind of technology you are using.

Cell-Internet phone and cell-Internet phone are two other names that reference to a phone with wifi capabilities. A cellular repeater works along side the wifi LAN. This is what also gives the cell phone different modes, which range between conventional and wifi VoIP.

The switch between regular types of cell phone to wifi, automatically happens. This happens in order to prevent the phone from experiencing periods of dropout. Generally, people would experience this, as a result of their cell phones inability to maintain contact with the repeater, as explained earlier

At times, certain areas may have a higher risk than others for losing calls. Things that can block frequencies, known as (radio frequencies) RF signals to outside repeater carry the greatest risk. This includes things such as buildings, especially when made of steel or concrete, or on the other hand dense populated areas.

A repeater’s range only goes so far in the length it continues in its ability to hold contact with the cell phone. Entering into enclosed areas with a low cell phone signal causes the call to drop. Wifi access on the other hand helps in certain circumstances. Meaning that if the person were to walk into a building with wifi access and be to the point of losing the call they would enjoy the benefit of the inside network.

A wifi LAN takes the call over from the conventional network when wifi becomes available. The VoIP allows the call to continue without interruption or interference. Less dropped calls are experienced, especially with the availability of wifi. Making it easier for everyone in the end.

Switching back to the other network usually happens without notice. The customer has the assurance to always stay connected as long as there is wifi service available. The customer can take comfort in knowing the call will continue when in range of a wifi network.

Many places have the service free and it comes with other benefits as well. You don’t have to worry about paying for the calls made on a wifi access. The only time you would have to pay is if the service requires it. This is a nice feature for someone who uses their phone a lot of minutes.
